PINOCCHIO wins Gold World Medal at New York Festival’s World’s Best TV & Films in the category Family Special

The new film version of Carlo Collodi’s classic story PINOCCHIO, a blend of real film and computer animation (2 x 90 min), has just been awarded a Gold World Medal at the New York Festival’s World’s Best TV & Films in the category Family Special.

The New York Festival is the latest in a long line of international A festivals to recognize the special magic of PINOCCHIO: the production enjoyed its Asian premiere in the Children’s Section of the Shanghai International Film Festival and was the opening film of the Kodomotachino Kinder Film Festival in Tokyo. It has also featured at renowned children’s film festivals including Cinemagic Belfast, Cinekid Amsterdam, the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, the Children’s Section of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina and the Brazilian Kids Film Festival.

This two-part TV event, first broadcast in the 2013 ARD Christmas program in Germany, is a co-production between FFP New Media (producer: Michael Smeaton) and WDR (program executive: Brigitta Mühlenbeck), sponsored by the NRW Film and Media Board. The production is directed by Anna Justice, while the top-class ensemble includes Ulrich Tukur, Benjamin Sadler, Inka Friedrich, Florian Lukas and Sandra Hüller, along with Mario Adorf as Pinocchio’s puppeteer father Geppetto.
